Sporting Program

We offer a range of sporting programs at St Elizabeth.

Swimming lessons are offered for students in Prep to Year 6.  Years 1 to 5 have swimming lessons in Terms One and Four, while Preps only swim in Term Four.  Year 6 students engage in swimming in Term One and then participate in a First Aid course in Term Four.
Swimming lessons are conducted at the Hibiscus Pool at Upper Mt Gravatt by trained coaches and children are transported to the pool by bus.  The cost of lessons and transport is covered in the school fees.
We also participate in swimming carnivals, as a school.  In Term One we hold a carnival for our elder students, while Term Four is a more fun carnival for our students in Years 1 to 3.  The Catholic Schools District Swimming Carnival is held at Chandler in Term 1.  Children selected are those with the best times in their age level in various strokes.  This carnival involves children from Years 4-6 (and students in Year 3 who are older than their peers).
A District Swimming Carnival is usually held at the beginning of Term 1, which involves children with ‘very’ good times.

The Years 3-6 Athletics Carnival is held in Term 3.
Students in The Early Years (P-2) have a Sports Day at the end of Term 3.  This is less competitive than the carnival for our older students and is regarded as ‘a fun day’ where participation is emphasised over competition.

Cross Country

A Cross Country for children in Years 3-6 takes place in Term 2 and is held at Shaftesbury Park.  All children are encouraged to participate, with the length of the laps varied according to year level.   A Fun Run is held for children in P-2.  This is a modified version of the Cross Country that is held for our older students.   Our Year 6 leaders assist at this event.
An Inter School Cross Country is held for schools in our Cluster Area, comprising Catholic Schools at Annerley, Dutton Park, Moorooka, Salisbury and Yeronga.  This carnival is for students in Years 4-6.

Inter School Sport

Students in Years 5 and 6 participate in the Mt Gravatt District Sport Competition in Term Two.  This is an opportunity for these students to be involved in regular competitive sport and to represent the school.  Costs involved are covered in the School Fees.
