 Assessment & Reporting

 

We use a number of assessment techniques including summative and formative assessment to measure your child’s learning. The following are included in your child’s assessment.

  • NAPLAN - Students in years 3 and 5 take part in the National Program of Literacy and Numeracy assessment (NAPLAN). 
  • PAT R - The ACER Progressive Achievement Tests in Reading
  • PAT M - The ACER Progressive Achievement Tests in Mathematics
  • South Australian Spelling Test
  • PM Benchmark Reading Assessment
  • TORCH Test – Tests of reading comprehension
  • PROBE – reading comprehension assessment

Reporting

Your child’s progress is reported both informally and formally.

Report Cards are issued at the end of each semester.  These have been designed to meet government regulations in regard to reporting. Formal teacher interviews are held twice yearly. 

You are welcome to discuss your child’s progress with the class teacher at any stage of the year.  We recommend that you make an appointment to ensure teacher availability and that you brief the teacher of your queries before the interview.

Other forms of reporting that occur at the school are “Celebrations of Learning.”  These happen towards the end of a unit of work and are an opportunity for parents and interested parties to view samples of the student’s learning. These are interactive by nature and showcase the child’s presentation. Teachers use these celebrations as a form of assessing and reporting.
