Participation in chess has many advantages:

	Chess is a game of great skill and demands logical reasoning.
	Chess teaches children to plan ahead.
	Chess teaches children to anticipate what others may be thinking.
	Chess teaches children about winning and losing and the need for persistence.

Chess classes are usually held once per week after school and classes are of one-hour duration.
